Gerardo 'Tata' Martino was announced today as the new head coach of the Mexican National Team for the qualification cycle of the 2022 Qatar Wolrd Cup.

The Argentine was with Yon de Luisa president of the Mexican Football Federation (FMF) and Guillermo Cantú, general sports manager.

Yon de Luisa said: "I have the satisfaction of welcoming Gerardo Martino after completing the structure of the team that started last year and what better way of doing it than with Mr. Martino and his coaching staff".

The new strategist of the National Team in his presentation talked about his plans and expectations for this period.

" Playing great teams have marked an important evolution of Mexican football. And the first thing that worries me is to build a good team with a clear idea of the game".

Martino talked about the generational changes in the team saying they're not done in the blink of an eye, is something that takes time.

Also saying he doesn't want to lock himself with some type of players as many things could happen in four years and even in the next few months.

The most important is that with the players we have in México and in different leagues of the world we can put together a great team.
