David Ortiz vivió complicada recuperación tras atentando

A pesar de ser uno de los deportistas más reconocidos en República Dominicana, David Ortiz fue víctima del crimen del país caribeño cuando sufrió un atentado en las calles de la capital de dicha nación.

Y este sábado, tras un largo proceso de recuperación en hospitales tanto de Dominicana como de Boston, Massachusetts, 'Big Papi' explicó que durante cierto lapso sintió que no podía más, sobre todo cuando fue afectado por una infección un su aparato digestivo.

"Fue muy peligroso. Llegue a un punto donde empecé a perder la esperanza. Tenía pesadillas donde estaba en un desierto, buscando agua. Despertaba con la boca seca y sintiendo que iba a morir. Sentía que si no pasaba, nunca a ser el mismo. Viví un infierno", detalló el extoletero.

Además, 'Big Papi', reveló que durante su hospitalización perdió un total de 40 libras ─18 kilogramos─ y sufrió tantos daños que no podía comer nada más que gelatina e incluso la fruta le producía estragos.

Lo peor ya pasó

La vida de Ortiz estuvo en peligro debido a que órganos como el hígado e intestinos fueron dañados en el ataque y después sufrió la infección anteriormente mencionada, el otrora miembro de Boston ya ha mejorado.

El pasado lunes, durante el último encuentro entre Yankees y Red Sox de la campaña 2019, Ortiz fue invitado a Fenway Park y tuvo la oportunidad de lanzar la pelota ceremonial del encuentro.

“It was very dangerous,” Ortiz said in an interview with The Boston Globe’s Bob Hohler, where he gave a first-hand account of the shooting for the time since the incident. “I got to the point that I started losing hope. “I had nightmares all the time about being in the desert, looking for water,” Ortiz added. “I would wake up with my mouth dry and feeling like I’m going to die. … I felt that if I didn’t die, then I would never be the same again. I went through hell with that.”
